When you refresh your flat, or individual rooms, you probably think about the furniture, the color of the paint, probably about wall decorations - what about the ceiling? It's the most neglected part of the room that can make a big difference if taken care of. Every designer knows that the fifth wall is a key design element. In this text, we will say a few words about how to decorate more advanced ceiling designs.
Living Room Ceiling Idea
The warmth of real wood, especially in a rustic or rural setting, is a truly masterful invention. Especially if we cover the ceiling with cassette panels. These can be veneered slats or wood-imitating coffers, if such a solid wood finish turns out to be over budget. Here is where our idea steps in. The interior of the coffers is perfect as a color complement to the interior. We can choose wood effect wall mural, uniform or multi-coloured, a combination that will harmonize with the whole room. It can be a dominant color, if in the rest of the decor we focused on white and delicate shades, or a classic combination bottle-green colors for filling to the deep red of carpet and wooden furniture.
Another, very interesting idea for the ceiling, offering a very high decorative potential is so-called Two-level suspended ceiling. In its most common form, it is a basic ceiling with an attached sling that runs below the basic ceiling around the perimeter of the room. Such a layout, with a wider or narrower frame, creates an opportunity to introduce a solution to your interior that was largely responsible for the charm and splendor of ancient architectural monuments. On the partially covered ceiling, we can put a wallpaper or photo wallpaper with any image that matches the interior. A suspended ceiling is usually a great opportunity to install alternative lighting, so why not be tempted to gently illuminate the wall mural with spot lamps, well hidden between the parts of the ceiling? We will then get a truly electrifying effect of the ceiling image, which will be additionally enhanced by the space between the ceiling elements and the delicate light that seeps from invisible spots. We guarantee that with the right choice of a wall mural, you will not be able to take your eyes off the composition.
Kids room ceiling idea
The ceiling in a children's room is an ideal field to enhance the decor. No matter where our kids are in their development, wall murals with the sky, covered in clouds, fantastic creatures such as pegasi, dragons or birds will always be an element enriching children's imagination. The ceiling can also be a perfect background for modern arrangements when a child is growing up. An idea for this can be, for example, patterns inspired by street art and graffiti.
Bedroom Ceiling Idea
A custom ceiling enhances the atmosphere that the decor is supposed to create, especially in a small space, such as a bedroom. This is due to the fact that this room, as a rule, has one main task, which is focused around one most important piece of furniture, i.e. the bed. Regardless of whether we are planning a false ceiling or a combination of colours, the bedroom is definitely worth looking after. There are many creative ideas that can be used for the ceiling in the bedroom. We present two concepts that we propose to develop.
- Cassettes
One of the best ways to enhance your bedroom décor mentioned at the beginning. Cassette ceilings are essentially intersecting beams that form a mesh-like pattern. They are very versatile because they can be made not only of wood, but also of plaster. Enriched with wallpaper in the interiors, they are perfect for a bedroom. - Extended panel
The design of your ceiling does not have to begin and end on the 5th wall. You can also use a wallpaper-covered panel behind the bed, slightly wider than the furniture itself. The panel starts on the wall behind it and extends all the way to the ceiling or to some part. Thus, it creates a kind of wallpaper canopy, which can be additionally decorated with thin slats on its sides. Skilfully selected colours of wallpaper, walls and bedding will create a cosy place to rest.
What colors for the ceiling?
Ceiling, as an often overlooked "fifth wall" is a great opportunity to think outside the box and experiment with colour as well. The potential in the decor and transformation of the ceiling manifests itself in many ways. While soft pastels can make a room lighter and more open, darker colours such as chocolate brown or purple make a space even more intimate and inviting. Accent colours on the ceiling can enhance an architectural detail and fill a space that seems empty and bland. Warm tones such as peach and pink can create a bright glow effect, while blue tones can be a reminiscence of the evening sky and give an effect of depth. Regardless of whether we choose bright shades or take inspiration from nature, choosing blue or green, we can always find a colour that suits our interiors and aesthetics, which won't be just ordinary white.
Did you know how much you can achieve in a home decor by implementing a custom ceiling idea in your room? We hope that the presented ideas will broaden your creative perspective and will be useful in creating your dream home.
